English Beaches Cleanest Ever Recorded

The Guardian reports that 98.5 percent passed minimum EU cleanliness standards, the highest number on record. Two out of three were rated "excellent"!

The great measures are attributed to tighter EU regulations, a dry summer, and anti-pollution investments by water companies.

It's encouraging to know that regional, national, and local standards can lead to an improved local environment. Even though the ocean is a giant bathtub, pollution in other areas of the world doesn't entirely mean that we're doomed in our area.
